Fawad Alam (born October 8, 1985 in Karachi) is a Pakistani first class cricket. He is primarily a left-handed batsman but bowls left arm orthodox slow hand. His father Tariq had a long career of class inPakistan. Making his first class debut at the age of 17, played for Pakistan Customs and Karachi Fawad. He impressed enough to be selected to play in World Cup U-19, who won Pakistan. Fawad appeared inthe domestic 2006-07 season, finishing as top scorer in the fifth-highest career Trophy Quaid-e-Azam.

It took a long 5 foot in the Twenty20 Cup final which earned him Man of the Match and was also named Man of the Series, Best Batsman and Best Bowler. After disappointing World Cup campaign Pakistan, Alam was recruited by a squad of men 16 years to one day international series against Sri Lanka in Abu Dhabi. His ODI debut in the third was to forget, was captured and shot by a ball Dilhara Fernando duck. His first few seconds of an international day was a better experience, since he contributed unbeaten 32 races down the order as Pakistan defeated India by 31 runs in Jaipur. Between these two parties, traveled to South Africa as part of the selection for the tournament in Pakistan 2007 ICC World Twenty20.
Fawad Alam, son of Pakistan’s former First-Class cricketer, Tariq Alam, is known for his ability to make his starts count and notch up big scores in domestic circuit. He has an unusual technique. When he takes his stance, it seems like bowlers are about to thunder into the crease from mid-wicket. However, he more often than not makes it up with sheer grit and determination.

The left-handed batsman came through the ranks by playing for Pakistan’s Under-19 team.  He did play a few key knocks for Pakistan in the Under-19 World Cup held in Bangladesh in 2004. Alam then, made his One-Day International (ODI) debut against Sri Lanka in 2007.

He scored a hundred on Test debut at P Sara Oval in 2009, but the effort went in vain. When Pakistan toured New Zealand in 2009 though, opposition ranks exposed his tendency to get into awkward positions to play the ball on seaming decks. Since then, he has not played for Pakistan in Tests.

In ODIs, Alam made a comeback into Pakistan’s squad after almost four long years for the Asia Cup 2014. In the final of the Asia Cup against Sri Lanka, Alam showed that uncanny ability to convert starts into big scores by compiling a century. The knock wasn’t a purist’s delight, but it once again gave a glimpse of Alam’s singular vision to succeed for the sake of his country.
